What I do
My directing and producing career began in Malawi, where I set up a Nanzikambe Theatre, a theatre company registered as an NGO and featuring the cream of Malawian acting talent. I directed four successful shows and produced a further six over my time there, touring nationally throughout Malawi and internationally to the Harare Festival of the Arts and South Africa, with support from British Council Malawi and various other funders.

Returning to the UK, I founded Bilimankhwe International Theatre and served as Artistic Director until January 2021, directing and producing shows and projects in London, touring the UK and in Malawi (in partnership with Nanzikambe). I also founded and directed Bilimankhwe Young Company, directing and producing productions and participating in the National Theatre Connections programme.

Following my move to Glasgow, 2023 saw the start of Chameleon Theatre, which I founded to take productions to small scale and rural venues throughout Scotland. Opening at the Edinburgh Fringe with GOLD!, a play I wrote and performed, I followed up in 2024 with Coppers. Both plays toured Aberdeenshire and the Highlands and are currently awaiting publication. I am currently working on my third short play for rural touring.

Acting
I have been working in the industry since 1983. I trained at the Bristol Old Vic Theatre School, and my experience includes both feature and short films, touring theatre in Europe, a stint at The Old Vic, London off West End shows, and Edinburgh Fringe.

Communications and Leadership Coaching

I have been a communication, leadership and speaker coach for over 12 years, working within organisations delivering group workshops and individual training programmes all over the world. The companies I have worked with include the Boston Consulting Group (Europe and Asia), McKinsey, Maersk, Deloitte, Elsevier, Euromonitor and Johnson & Johnson.

I have also worked as a speaker coach for the TED organisation (TED Global and coaching the TED Fellows), the leadership organisation YPO (for their global conference in Vancouver) and Vanguard (working with speakers at their biennial global conference in Philadelphia and Washington DC).
